The February Special Envelope will be
for the Good Samaritan Fund. The Good Samaritan Fund is used to
assist those in the area who request help with their utility bills.
We work closely with other agencies in the area to assist folks in
getting the amount they need to avoid shut-off or to restore service
after it has been shut off. Once they get help from another agency,
we pay the last $25 of their bill. Each person can only be helped
once a year. There are more people needing assistance each year.
Your generous giving allows us to keep helping those in need.
During
Lent, as we focus on Christ’s journey to the cross, let’s also
examine the journey of our lives. The first task when leaving on any
adventure is packing. What have you placed in your bag? Are you
weighed down with temptations, self-doubt, money worries,
relationship troubles? Have you overlooked any important items? Maybe
your bag feels too empty for the challenges ahead. Remember to pack
mercy, grace and forgiveness.
Thanks
to Easter, we know that our journey in Christ continues, even when
the road becomes difficult. So as you prepare for Lent, carry with
you the hope made possible by Jesus’ sacrifice on our
behalf.

violence-free society.
Your continued support of
Someplace Safe, Inc. is greatly appreciated.
To Emmanuel and Hope Lutheran Parish,
Thank you so much for the gifts
and money that you gave me this Christmas. I received gifts directly
from individuals, monetary gifts through congregations and a monetary
gift from the parish. I deeply appreciate your signs of love and
encouragement.
Pastor Dee
Dear Church Family,
We would like to thank everyone
that sent cards and offered condolences when my mother passed away.
It is very comforting to know that people are thinking of you.
Larry & Janet Hicks
Dear Friends of Emmanuel,
I would like to thank each of you
for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers over the last 2-1/2
months. Thanks to all of the cards that were sent, I had the most
decorated windowsill on the 3rd floor!
I have been home since December 28
recuperating and enjoying time with my family. It has been great to
be with my children again!
On January 23 I go back to the
hospital for another 5 day round of chemotherapy to start preparing
my body for the bone marrow transplant, which will most likely occur
at the beginning of March.
Please continue to keep me, and
this time my bone marrow donor, who is my brother Ryan, in your
thoughts and prayers as I continue my journey to health. Thanks
again!

Dear Friends at Emmanuel,
I would like to thank you for the
monetary gift that I received at Christmas. It was very much
appreciated. It is my wish for all of you to have a very Happy New
Year. God bless you all,
Lois Emrich
A Koinonia breakfast is being planned
for the first Sunday of March after the Liturgy. The choir and DJ
Raisley will be cooking REAL BUCKWHEAT CAKES (the sour dough kind).
So mark your calendar for Sunday, March 4th.
Also, the choir is open for new members
in all voice parts. We have a short warm up rehearsal at 9:30 am
before Liturgy and then the rehearsal right after the Liturgy for one
hour. Anyone that is interested, please talk to one of the choir
members or DJ Raisley. See also the flier on the bulletin board in
Memorial Lobby.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Be the Glory!” We give God the glory for all the
wonderful things God has done in and through the people of Emmanuel
in the past century and we look forward
with joy to what God continues to do today.
The
